Anyone?
Although I originally bought the Korila 1s, and then replaced them with the #2s, I haven't been using any power heads.
I found my problem.( I hope!) Not enough filtration. Eheim canisters have terrible flow............mine less than 177gph each. Which to me, makes them not worth the money. So I added a Marineland C-530 canister with 530 gph flow rate (with media), and took out the power heads.
Makes my filtration 15X the volume of the tank. The algae seems to be disappearing, the water is clearer, and the fish more active. This seemed to be needed, keeping Discus.
In the future, I may need to use one of the power heads, to cover any dead spots.
However, I am still trying to figure out what causes the gel like substance, that builds up in the mouth of my d/c, after four days of being in the tank.
Even using my over sized UV,(18 watt), it still accumulating. Hard to believe, no one has ever experienced this problem. I tested my water, with the exception of Phosphate, (the regent bottle broke) and everything looked good. I will probably test the TDS, and/or try Seachem Purigen, and see if that eliminates the gel.
