This is a sad, sad day.
Our brothers in arms, despite what you may feel about them, at MonsterFishKeepers.com who are also AquariaCentral.com and Aquatic-Photography.com are being sued by Monster Energy Drinks because the stylized M in Monster Fish Keepers might confuse consumers looking for gut rotting, circadian rhythm destroying ichor. This is not the first time the energy drink maker has done this, another example here: The Consumerist » Brewery Owner Stares Down, Whups Monster In His Closet Here's a petition at Change.org to stop this madness (I have already signed it) Petition: Monster Beverage Corporation: Do not sue Monster Fish Keepers for trademark infringement! | Change.org, the Consumerist.org article alerting me to it, The Consumerist » Monster Energy Assumes Consumers Can’t Distinguish Energy Drinks From Fish Tanks. This is Monster Fish Keeper's blog post about the sordid affair & asking for help, Support MonsterFishKeepers. I've added a post on my Google+ to help out the Streisand Effect even more. A +1 for awareness would be nice at https://plus.google.com/u/0/10942574...ts/ffamYS7dAmT. I have forwarded the story to a legal blog called PopeHat.com that exposes censorious thuggery and finds pro bono help for such bullied parties or those being denied their First Amendment rights & other guarantees as a result of the aforementioned barratry allowable in our broken legal system. Make no mistake, Monster Fish Keepers is in the right legally, ethically and morally but the greedy, atavistic, censorious bastards at Monster Energy Drinks know they can bully this innocent group of hobbyists with expensive, unnecessary proceedings that shouldn't even be possible yet still are. So much for the "rule of law." This tactic is used every day. It's called a SLAPP suit and is meant to have a chilling effect of public discourse that they personally don't like, stuff that is protected by the First Amendment and other offices of US government. Additionally, Monster Energy Drinks has other ridiculous demands like refraining from ever using the word monster or not using the particular color of green and relinquishing their valid trademark & copyright. These bumptious dunderheads need to be held up to ridicule and mockery for this outrage and hopefully an expensive counter-suite. I hope Monster Energy Drinks implodes in a puff of failure and embarrassment for this affront. Shame on them! Thank you for your attention. Please feel free to re-post and mention in it in your various streams and most importantly talk about it with others. (We need an angry smiley but then again, it may be abused and I never really feel anger here at home so maybe it's negative and superfluous. But if we had one, this post would make legitimate use of it!)

Good, thank you. As long as people talk about it, we're good. Hopefully either pro bono help will appear or the negative publicity will get Monster Energy to back down. We'll see. Until then, fingers crossed, knock on wood

...It appears that change.org requires those fields. Hmmm....

They need the address to prove the person who signs it is a real person, otherwise the petition wouldn't mean much. They are not going to use the address for any purpose and its not made public. Do you think anyone would pay attention to a petition signed by anonymous internet users?

Not a site under my control, so if it is to be "signed" like that it must be up to the individual user who consents to it. I can see their reasoning to prevent the ballot box from being stuffed but I don't think it should be a problem for those wishing to help something that is legitimate and needful.
