Default "Osage Orange" Driftwood?

I am DIY'ing as much as possible to keep costs down. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with osage orange (hedge) wood. It is an extremely hard wood and has lots of character but I didn't know if anyone knows if it leaches any toxins or anything once it is under water.

Considered one of the strongest woods on the planet!
Used for bows, cross bows, there is even a wood race car called the splinter that used it for leaf springs. As for aquariums you would be the first to try it that i know of .. he he

Yeah, it is crazy strong. A chainsaw doesn't really cut it but more just kinda burns its way through. I ended up scrapping this project for my first tank. I think it would work (I have some really cool pieces too) but I will save it for my second tank when I won't be as devestated if I kill everything. The sap in the hedge balls (its fruit) is used as a homopathic insecticide and that has me scared a little bit. Plus I had it soaking in the bath tub (and it wasn't sinking at all) and the wife told me it was worth the cost to have her tub back.....

If it is a homeopathic insecticide wouldn't that mean there would be no insecticide in it at all?

Sorry, the skeptic in me couldn't resist...
