Question Korila Powerheads

Hi,
Dealing with BBA, I am thinking about changing some of my 72 gallon planted tank setup. Earlier (under the CO2 thread), we discussed changing my Power Reactor 200 to two diffuser discs.
I am concerned that I have some dead spots in the tank, ( mostly in the front) even tho I have two Eheim spraybar kits, mounted along the rear glass, spraying to the front glass.(370gph at best)
I thought that maybe I should get two Korila Powerheads and put one near each rear corner of the tank, pointing diagonally towards the front corners of the tank. (hidden) This way, maybe eliminate, the dead spots, and increase dispersion of the CO2 bubbles from the diffusers.
Does this sound viable to you?
Also which model Korila pump do you think would be strong enough to provide gentle current from one corner to corner on a four foot tank, without over powering the plants?
Nano =240gph
Korila 1=400gph
Korial 2=600gph
thanks

I would go with 2 nano pumps for your 72G. We have a number of these pumps in a few tanks. But, please also consider a Maxi-Jet with there new prop modification kit.

Its a bit more versatile, although the mounting hardware is not as cool its still a less expensive option and works just as good

I second the nanos. I had a few of these in my 40 breeders and was amazed by the amount of power such a little device had.

You all, think the nanos will be strong enough to provide some current from one diagonal corner across the tank to the other corner of a four foot tank?
I have been reading about Korailas, that one should order the next stronger one.
Anyway, they seem to be on sale at many web sites..........25.00$

thanks

So these ceramic diffusers look like they were designed for corner placement.( by the suction cups) As originally stated, my corners are already being used by the Eheim intake tubes. Will these diffusers remain if placed on the substrate? We can see no other way of securing them to the back glass using the suction cups.

Some of these questions might seem simple and elementary. Please bare with us, we are new to this hobby, and the internet is our only resource.

thanks,

The diffusers don't need to be placed in corners. They can be suctioned to the back glass with no problem. I would not bury them in substrate, it may damage the glassware or ceramic plate?

I would think 2 nano pumps would be plenty of flow for this tank

X2, I had 1 nano in each tank and they created a gentle flow across a 3' tank. One in each corner as you suggested will work wonders for additional flow. And the fish will love the extra current to swim in.

How much flow do you have flowing in your tank?

Default Anyone?

Although I originally bought the Korila 1s, and then replaced them with the #2s, I haven't been using any power heads.
I found my problem.( I hope!) Not enough filtration. Eheim canisters have terrible flow............mine less than 177gph each. Which to me, makes them not worth the money. So I added a Marineland C-530 canister with 530 gph flow rate (with media), and took out the power heads.
Makes my filtration 15X the volume of the tank. The algae seems to be disappearing, the water is clearer, and the fish more active. This seemed to be needed, keeping Discus.
In the future, I may need to use one of the power heads, to cover any dead spots.

However, I am still trying to figure out what causes the gel like substance, that builds up in the mouth of my d/c, after four days of being in the tank.
Even using my over sized UV,(18 watt), it still accumulating. Hard to believe, no one has ever experienced this problem. I tested my water, with the exception of Phosphate, (the regent bottle broke) and everything looked good. I will probably test the TDS, and/or try Seachem Purigen, and see if that eliminates the gel.
