Default AC HOB Media, dumb question!!!

I have an AC 30 HOB in my 10g holding tank. Tank has 10 CPDs, 20 RCS, 4 nerite snails, lots of java moss, wisteria and anacharis.

Do I have to have carbon in my HOB or can I replace it for more biological media????

You dont need carbon. But I do like to use in non planted tanks. I would change it out ever 3-4 weeks?

Thanks.

I'll try to get more bio media this weekend.
