That's what I've heard. I'm on spring break this week, but I'll try to get to the lab tomorrow and get pics of the two that seem "stuck". The buds started to flower, maybe 15%, and then stopped. They've been like that for over a week, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I am sorry! I've been out of academia for so long I forgot about this ancient rite!
I didn't mean to bother you. Don't even reply to this. Just go to the beach, have fun and if you can't be good then at least be good at it !This can all wait 'til after you sober up and the sun burn goes away. Please, enjoy! |

All of the ones I have ever had did. I even spliced them and they would still continue to bud no matter how many times I cut the flowers back. They look great, but not worth the coin or trouble. They just dont last long. |

Last week I put several Cyperus helferi and Pogostemon helferi in culture. When I checked today, I had 2 C helferi and 6 P helferi (out of 40 explants total) survive contaminant free. The C helferi are hard to get clean due to the tiny places for stuff to hide between the leaves. The P helferi was nuked just about to the point of complete annihilation and I'm crossing my fingers that something survives and grows. This morning I went back into the lab to try the C helferi again with a double sterilization technique. 1 bleach run at 25 minutes, then I removed several outer leaves and re-bleached at higher concentration for another 10 minutes. I hope this works. I would like to see something start growing before I leave for my summer internship in May.

I have had a little success with Pogostemon helferi. I was able to confirm organogenesis last week. I went ahead and transfered it to fresh medium. I'll be in the lab tomorrow morning to check its progress. The Erio and Echinodorus never grew and I had to throw out the cultures. I'll try again later with different explant material. The Cyperus helferi is also doing nothing. I may have over-bleached it. Most of the tissue has turned brown over the last three weeks.

Hey I still have that project in mind. I don't have a lot of material around here, but I could probably scrounge a plant or two, or just make some more purchases.
How much longer do you expect to be at this?
