Default Ferka Aquabase Substrate system

I will be testing another new substrate in the next week or 2 by Ferka.
The stuff is new to the market in the US, but many folks in Europe and Asia use it with superb results.
I will be starting a new journal in a day or 2. All of this will be in a 50G Starphire glass tank with Cal Aqua Labs glassware all around followed up with the natural looking substrate with Aquabase.

I think this is going to be fun

ADA soil is nothing magic Its soil and organics with 10% clay all kilned together...

AquaBase is a clay based compound with magic pixie dust inside guaranteed to grow magic bean stalks

Nah! Its a clay based substrate that you have to premix in a base layer under your top layer of decorative substrate..

It would be interesting to hear your opinion on this stuff vs mineralized soil. I know you like the soil substrate.

I like any substrate that provides food readily for plants and easy to plant in. I prefer something that does not alter the water parameters.

I think this Aquabase will be pretty nice especially sense I can use whatever substrate I want to use as the vehicle to hold and serve the mix

ROFL. If it's good enough to grow magic bean stalks, then it should be good enough for water weeds.

Ive used everything there is and I must say, anything with mud in the tank will grow plants like crazy.

I think using any substrate with at least 10-15% clay to soil mixture will grow anything but soft water plants. And if you need to do that you can use RO or a soil with a little more organic mater(wood debris)

Ive also started a new tank with a (for now I will say private label) with an 18% clay base to soil and organics. Its been kilned a little longer making the soil a little harder than AS, but I think so far its much better than AS for more reasons than one.
I just hope the product can stay consistent, which seems to be the problem with AS.

Hope we get to find out what this mystery substrate is down the road.

I saw your 50g looks great what did you use for a top layer. My sand doesn't look like this? I really like it does it hold a slope? Do you still have to dose? Sorry for all the ???
