Everything is still looking great. Hey what is that tall crypt at the far right?
I really gotta think more about a planted riparium with a good-sized oddball fish or two.

Skinny died yesterday from unknown causes. I came home at lunch and he was upside down on the bottom of the tank. I reached in to pull him out and he started to move a little, but when I got home last night he had passed on to Davey Jones' locker. Big Worm is still alive and well, getting bigger as the months go by. I almost wonder if it came down to survival of the fittest between these two. Skinny was very passive in his eating habits, waiting for food to come to him. Big Worm is the opposite. He has great natural hunting instincts and attacks live food quickly and methodically. It's fun to watch him hunt, even more so now that the plants are growing and getting thicker.

This tank had no fish prior to the eels moving in, so I didn't bother with QT. Both eels adjusted quickly to the tank and I had no problems up till now. The platies were in QT for several weeks and I treated them with ick medication as a precaution before moving them in with the eels.
Generally, I keep the fish in QT for at least two weeks and treat twice with ick medication just to be sure they don't transfer anything with them. |

When ever we get new fish we feed them medicated foods to clear our parasites and Bacteria. This seems to be the downfall of most fish introduced into a new home. Treating the fish with ick medicine may not be a good practice seeing as they dont have any ick.
You May also want to consider using a UV sterilizer. Internal parasites are ghost killers! |

Big Worm made a rare appearance out in the open for a few minutes today after the lights came on. I haven't seen him out swimming in several weeks, usually I just catch a glimpse of his head poking out from the cave. I was able to get a picture and video. The video is uploading on youtube and I'll post the link as soon as it's done.
The only good picture I got. I would have to estimate his size to be about 7-8", nearly double from when I first bought him back in October. You can get a real good perspective on his size in the video compared to the orange platies swimming around him.
