I have to say when my friend emailed me about the project I did not believe it. I thought he was pretty drunk to say the least. But, its true and here are the photo's to prove it. You will never see anything else like this on the planet. Its filtered and co2 injected.
2 million litres of water are filtered at the rate of 1.2 million litres per hour, and CO2 injection system provides the plants with the ideal conditions to thrive, prevent algae and maintain stable pH levels. Its unreal. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

In that first picture, that really is them putting down a layer of laterite, isn't it?
At what point does your private pond become a nursery?

I had to edit my original post twice to remove expletives.
Not angry expletives but just shocked expletives. Hard to come up with the proper adjectives. What kind of stocking is he going to be doing? The whole thing could really use some color, IMO. Do you know what he did for substrate? Are there 'planting' racks or shelves like in many planted ponds or is it all substrate? I would imagine that it is topsoil atleast? In that climate and with a 'high tech' set-up (sounds so odd in a freaking lake) he should be able to grow all sorts of cool stuff (and to sizes we aren't used to seeing). |

The red soil is the natural earth in Brazil. They did not use laterite, they covered it with a huge layer of thick rubber, then added substrate and stones. Mostly sand and rock.
You can see the rubber liner in the 3rd photo. Same stuff used on landfills, its heavy duty.
